The story of Evans-North CSRA Airfield
Previously an old WWI aircraft testing airstrip, the airfield remained a test site until 1944 when the United States Army Air Corps finally turned ownership over to the Georgia Department of Transportation, and specifically the McDuffie County Government. Despite the transfer to McDuffie, The Municipality of Evans and the Columbia County Government handle almost everything regarding the airport. Today, it sits dormant as an underused public GA airstrip.
