Your First Day on Project Airports
Watch on YouTubeNew here? Start with 15,000 Aeros
Project Airports is a free community for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. You claim a real spot on the world map, build your airport right in your browser, and our free app puts it into the sim for everyone to fly. There are already 1,670 community airports and 11,000+ pilots.

- 15,000 Aeros to start, three times the old start.
- One free Advanced building of your choice: a hangar complex, a control tower, or a military or heritage hangar.
- A starter airport, ready to fly the moment you claim: dirt strip, grass taxiway and parking apron already laid out.
- A 5-step tutorial (it used to be 24) and one-screen account setup.

Spread out and earn more
Most pilots kept flying to the same handful of airports while hundreds of hand-built fields sat empty. So exploring now pays, and the quieter the field, the more it pays.

- Quiet fields pay 1.5x. Every airport shows how busy it was this week. On your daily tour, Quiet fields (0-5 other pilots this week) pay x1.5, Steady x1, Busy x0.75 and Bustling x0.5.
- Trailblazer: +1,000 Aeros. Be the first pilot at a little-known field that has rested for 14 days. Up to 2 a day. Look for the yellow compass on the Claim Map, or use the Trailblazer filter in the airport directory.
- A bigger daily tour. Your first 10 different airports each day pay 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, then 300 each. No landing needed: a low pass under 100 ft counts.
- Tour chests. Reach 20 airports in a day for +400, and 30 for +800.
- Explorer Passport. Every new field stamps your passport, with rewards from 10 to 1,000 airports (500 to 15,000 Aeros) and a rank role in our Discord.
None of the exploring pay counts against your daily cap, and every visit still pays the airport's owner. Build something worth visiting and the pilots come to you.

Day one
On the first full day (October 15, UTC), pilots visited 598 different airports, up from about 220 a day the week before. And 520 airport owners were paid by visitors, up from about 150 a day.
Hundreds of little-known fields have a +1,000 Trailblazer bonus waiting right now.
Free to build and fly, no subscription. Questions, ideas, or a field you want people to visit? Come and say hi in our Discord!
