Emerald Object Library joins the catalogue + VFX for your airport!
Some of the best parts of an airport are the things you notice after you land: a cabin beside the strip, a well-used tool chest, a camper parked up for the weekend. This week, we’re giving you a lot more of those little details to play with.
We’re excited to be working with Emerald Scenery Design to offer Emerald Object Library another home on Project Airports. A huge thank-you to rotornut44 for letting us bring their work into the editor. We’re adding an alternative place to host and use these assets, making them available to thousands of pilots at airports of their own.

Start with a building, add the everyday clutter, then give the place a reason to stop and stay a while. There are 412 EO objects to explore, from cabins and fuel tanks to workshop equipment and campsite details. Find them on the Emerald Object Library shelf in the editor catalogue and place them using Aeros.
Our integration is made with Emerald’s permission and keeps their work credited. You can also visit Emerald Scenery Design for the original library and their other scenery.
Freeware creators: there’s room for you here, too.
Do you make an object library or a freeware airport? Sick of a certain .to website? Hate ads? We’d love to host your work on Project Airports for free, with no ads. With your permission, we can also make your assets available for other pilots to use at their own airports. Hosting your work and sharing its assets are separate choices you decide what we may use.
Send us a link to your work and tell us what you have in mind. We’ll work through the practical details with you and keep your name attached to what you’ve made.
Lord Frites brings the flying circus.
If your idea of a relaxing arrival involves a giant ring and a moving obstacle, Lord Frites has you covered. Their Aerobatics Model Library brings rings, tunnels, fire rings and animated obstacles into the mix. Build a little practice course or give your friends something memorable to fly through. We take no responsibility for the phrase “one more attempt.”

1l2p brings the volcano to life.
Over at La Fournaise Lava Edge Airfield (FPIT), 1l2p has been researching what MSFS can do with native visual effects. That work helped us bring a new set of effects into the airport editor, and their volcano airfield is a spectacular place to see why we were excited about it.

The editor’s nine effects include Ground Fire, Fuel Puddle Flames, Flare, Vehicle Fire, Vehicle Explosion, Crash Smoke, Grey Smoke, Ultra-white Smoke and Geyser Fog. Place them, adjust their scale and orientation, and build some atmosphere into your scene. The browser gives you a placement preview; the native effect comes to life in MSFS.
FPIT’s custom eruption scene brings several effects together. In the editor, you can combine individual effects with your own scenery. Thank you, 1l2p, for doing the research and sharing what you found.
Now available for Supporters: Updated Visitor Signs!
The new supporter welcome sign is now available to all supporters! A token of my massive appreciation for those who make this program possible. With four styles to make it your own: Modern graphite, Backcountry cedar, Country oak and City stone with bronze details. Find it in the Supporters Kit catalogue, place it at your airport, and choose a style in object settings.

Your sign brings together your airport name, welcome message, visit total, ten recent visitors and rankings, with a QR link back to your airport page. Update your Project Airports companion app to 1.3.17 or later for the new live display. The classic sign is no longer offered in the catalogue, but signs already placed at airports will stay. You can replace yours with a new style whenever you’re ready. THANK YOU for your support!
Thanks to Emerald Scenery Design, Lord Frites, 1l2p and everyone who keeps adding something of their own to this community. A runway gets you there. It’s your ideas that make it somewhere worth visiting.
