We Have a Winner!
The 5K Weekend is officially in the books. After the eligibility review required by the Official Rules, we have a confirmed winner.
@Csitim (Max) is the official winner of the 500,000-Aero 5K Weekend Community Drawing. Congratulations!
@Csitim's home field is Tinos Airfield (LGTI). Kinda felt like the prize needed something more permanent than a wallet entry. So I built him a one-of-a-kind, event-sized winner board carrying his name, the 500,000-Aero award and the final drawing totals. It is theirs alone to place at Tinos.
One absolutely ridiculous weekend
For 96 hours, eight community airports rotated through the spotlight while income rates were raised across the board. You lot did not waste the opportunity.
- The weekend's earning multipliers generated 1,746,331 extra Aeros above normal rates across 1,569 accounts.
- 2,152 new pilots joined during the event itself
- 578 new airports were created during the 96-hour event window.
- 3,783 verified visits reached 991 different airports, flown by 501 pilots.
- 432 qualifying spotlight visits from 118 pilots paid 432,000 Aeros across the eight featured fields.
The spotlight race even came down to the wire: Blue Ash Airport (KISZ) finished with 65 qualifying arrivals, just one ahead of Folsom Point (0FP) at 64. Every one of the eight airports found a new audience.
Thank you to everyone who flew, explored, built, reported bugs, welcomed a new pilot, supported the project or simply opened the map to see what all the noise was about. The event may be over, but every airport it sent you toward is still there, and there are hundreds of new ones waiting beyond them.
