The story of Campo d'Aviazione Alevia

WELCOME TO CAMPO D’AVIAZIONE ALEVIA! Located in western Milan, beside the green areas of Trenno and just west of the city’s two historic racecourses, Alevia sits where the city meets open space. Beyond the racecourses, the recognizable profile of San Siro Stadium remains a useful visual landmark, while fields, parks and wide horizons give the feeling of already being beyond Milan. The area has a genuine connection with aviation. During the First World War, the fields of Trenno were used as a military flying ground for the aerial defence of Lombardy. Alevia continues that forgotten identity in a modern way, replacing military operations with private, recreational and General Aviation flying. The name Alevia is personal: “Ale” refers to Alessandro, while “via” suggests a road, a direction and a journey. Together, it becomes Alessandro’s way and, at the same time, a new route into the sky. Alevia is not a large commercial airport. It is a field dedicated to General Aviation, where flying remains personal, direct and connected to the aircraft, the pilot and the landscape. After take-off, the racecourses, Trenno and Milan’s skyline create a unique departure view, with the Alps and Lombardy lakes waiting beyond on clear days. And if you are exploring the area, don’t stop here: come and visit AVXL too, another destination worth adding to your flight. Alevia is more than a runway near Milan. It is a place where the city ends, aviation history returns and the journey begins!

from: VTCS12. This is a brilliant airport, should be HOT, its certainly on my favourites list, and look forward to see its development, great job, what does the `T` stand for just before the runway ?

Hi savcom, I'm glad it's among your favorites! The field is constantly being developed, funds permitting. I have no intention of having a longer runway or a wider apron; it would lose its feel as an airfield. The "T" indicates the preferred runway when ATC service or METAR data are unavailable; it is widely used at small, uncontrolled airports.
