Burton Field CYBO

The city of Burton itself is a small community on the east shore of lower Arrow Lake originally settled in the 1890's following a Gold Rush discovery at Cariboo Creek. It was named after pioneer Reuben Burton, who pre-emptied the land which grew into a vital steam boat shop. Unfortunately the original settlement remains submerged as a direct result of flooding the Arrow Lakes Reservoir with the construction of the Hugh Keenleyside Dam (originally named Arrow Dam). Today the sleepy little community sits higher up, and is home to orchards, sawmills, and some unique camping sites with many trails that give people a good chance to explore and unwind!
