Capac, founded in 1857, is a small village in St. Clair County, Michigan, located about 50 miles north of Detroit (between Port Huron and Lansing, just north of I-69) and surrounded by a strong agricultural community. Founded in the late 1800s along the Grand Trunk Railroad, it has grown into a close-knit community known for its rural character, local businesses, and small-town atmosphere. Today, Capac offers residents and visitors a quiet lifestyle with convenient access to larger cities while maintaining its historic charm, community events, parks, and connections to Michigan's farming heritage. Capac has been my home for the last 20+ years after I had decided to move to a small town so that my daughter could experience the same small and close-knit type of community that I had experienced in Elkton, MI, when I was younger. Smaller schools with lower student/teacher ratios are a plus and everything is within walking distance. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is charming. We even have a couple restaurants, grocery stores, and a library.
