The story of Boss Field Wil ZH

The Legend of the Bosses Long before modern aviation had discovered common sense, there lived a legendary brotherhood known simply as The Bosses Four men so extraordinarily gifted that lesser pilots could only watch them fly and question their own life choices. There was the Boss of St. Moritz, a nature-loving, big-nosed deity of tailwheel aviation. He possessed an almost supernatural ability to detect incorrect statements from miles away. Whenever someone dared speak aviation nonsense, thunder would roll across the Alps and a voice would echo: “Eeeeemmmmh… ACTUALLY…” Then came the Boss of Solothurn, a charismatic, dangerously charming man whose mastery of stick and rudder was rivalled only by his extraordinary success with supermodels. He enjoyed life, aviation, and occasionally alcohol—sometimes in that order. His greatest talent, however, was convincing the Boss of Wil ZH to make increasingly questionable decisions. From the depths of an ancient cave emerged the Boss of the Cave, a prehistoric aviation revolutionary. Despite his advanced age, he despised anything old, analog, or governed by sensible procedures. He worshipped glass cockpits, modern avionics, and flying by instinct. It was said that he invented “seat-of-your-pants flying” after throwing the checklist into a fire and declaring, “I know what I'm doing.” And finally, the Boss of Wil ZH: a tanned, caramel-skinned, devastatingly handsome and exceptionally funny aviator whose passion for flight was surpassed only by his legendary instrument-flying ability. Pilots travelled from distant lands simply to witness him fly an ILS. His approaches were so precise that some claimed the localizer bent itself to meet him. Eventually, each Boss built an airport in his homeland. This airport is the legacy of the Boss of Wil ZH A monument to aviation greatness, questionable decisions, legendary ILS approaches, and the occasional influence of the Boss of Solothurn. Welcome to the Boss of Wil ZH’s Airport.
