Lincoln country search and rescue Helipads WYLS

Nestled in the heart of Star Valley, the Lincoln County Search & Rescue Heliport (WYLS) serves as the primary rotary-wing operations base for Lincoln County's volunteer search and rescue team. Strategically positioned near the foothills of the Salt River and Wyoming Ranges, the facility provides rapid response capability for emergencies throughout the rugged backcountry of western Wyoming. The heliport features a modern illuminated concrete helipad, a heated rescue hangar capable of housing two medium helicopters, and a 24-hour operations center equipped with emergency communications, mission planning facilities, and aviation weather services. Additional infrastructure includes a fuel farm with Jet A storage, rescue equipment bays, vehicle staging areas, and crew quarters for overnight missions. Designed to support demanding mountain operations, the heliport is the launch point for wilderness search missions, high-angle rescues, avalanche response, medical evacuations (MEDEVAC), wildfire support, and disaster relief operations. The facility maintains close coordination with the nearby Afton-Lincoln County Airport, local EMS, fire departments, law enforcement, and neighboring county rescue organizations. Surrounded by the scenic peaks of Star Valley, the heliport offers challenging approaches influenced by mountainous terrain, changing weather, and high-elevation conditions, making it an exciting destination for helicopter pilots in simulation environments.
