BATS Strip BATS

Batwing Sometimes Strip sits on the “sometimes islands” off Mansfield Dam, a narrow causeway of land that appears when Lake Travis runs low. We turned this quirk of the lake into a high-consequence training field: water on both sides, short runway, and no room for sloppy approaches. Pilots come here to practice short-field work, crosswinds, and precise centerline control with the dam, boat ramps, and lake traffic as visual references. It’s also a staging point for Batwing NavBat ops and amphibious seaplane training on Lake Travis, tying air and water traffic into one playground.
