Mörbylånga Flygfält ESGB

The airport was built to provide easier access to southern Öland and its surrounding nature reserves. As the area became increasingly popular with tourists, flying offered a faster and more convenient alternative to the long drive from the mainland. Originally, the airport mainly served small aircraft with fewer than 8 passengers, operating short flights from Kalmar and other nearby airports. The simple dirt runway and remote location made it ideal for light aircraft and private operators. Today, the airport remains a small dirt airfield, but has grown into a popular destination for regional aviation. Small aircraft now connect Öland with destinations across Sweden, while the airport continues to attract tourists, private pilots and local businesses. Despite its growth, the airport has kept its original character: a small, simple airfield surrounded by the unique landscape of southern Öland.
