The story of NTURNER FIELD

Near Eagle Lake Ca. As a Internist (MORTICIAN) "NTURNER" FIELD is a perfect place to sit back and remember better days. All those that myself and my brothers have had the pleasure of putting away for everlasting peace!

I fished, camped, hunted, swam, around and in the lake since I was a kid in the 70's.My grandparents owned a cabin in nearby Spaulding I built a strip in Susanvile. SV7 at the base of Diamond Mountain out off Richmond Road. Nice airport sir.. it's very large though and wouldn't be scale here. Spaulding's strip used to be just the gravel on the lakeside shore and some cones.

Thanks for giving me your feedback and experience in the area. Glad you found it nice , though a bit out of scale. I agree in parts. There is nothing in the area that would justify a commitment to such a build except the one purpose it was designed for. It was built as a private airfield for a Tech Investor with whom, in search of a natural area filled with beauty and access to water, has millions to build. He built to support his personal Fleet of assorted airframes including VLJ to Medium Frame Jets. Hence the need for a 4000 ft paved strip. BTW, The owner would prefer NOT to allow any visitors to his airfield but due to public pressure, permits, and taxes, he thought it best to suffer a certain level of AGROTAINMENT (Agritainment). I counseled with AI and these were the real world factors needed for that area. So yeah when the neighbor next door is a Tech Trader.... he may drop a MONSTROSITY of infrastructure in an otherwise demure area, LOL

Yea.. I figured as much.. I took sailplane from my strip in Susanville to yours over the mountain and south of the lake.. continued on passed.. As I was requested by the owner to "not land" at his "private" jetway. Continued on passed northeast back over the lake and around to the south crossing back over Susanville and landing at my tiny gravel strip at which no jet probably will ever attempt to crash at... heheh

Funny, LOL. You are welcome to zip in anytime. I was just explaining the design philosophy of it's size and scope... I'm in the Chico area so maybe one day I'll go out there and check it out in real time.. I did acquire the adjacent plot to the south to add some fishing and boating support for the main field. It just so happened the lot line stopped 300 yards short of the shoreline so the OWNER could not freely build waterside initially. But a dock and water runway should be in place soon. Please check it out.. (PLUS) that's an easy 400A as you can hit 2 airports in less than 2 seconds . The 2 runways with different airfield destinations are are only separated by 2 inches :0 ( hell if you land on one you can rollout on to the next one.) Visually they are 1 RUNWAY!

Awesome... Yea I was trying to be funny. It's true though that I used to live there. I grew up right there. I put my airport SV7 next to the golf course but it's on a friend of mines land in real life. I live in Florida now. It really is pretty desolate where you put that strip. Cattle fields.. they free range them. There is a field about the same as yours in real life in Chester. Not far to the south west next to Lake almanore. Its a fire fighting hub. Your build is pretty nice. I didn't wanna build a big one and I wanted mine to fit into the real scenery like a glove. Funny that I used my buddies property. He doesn't fly simulator or planes at all. haha I sent him a photo.

Yeah Rogers O05 is a nice field and I love where it is situated. I was hoping to have a similar feel without all the hustle and bustle. Not that CHESTER is busy.. LOL. I have a pet peeve as well when I see people building their fields in cities and or over existing infrastructure. Some place people have vehicle traffic flowing right over runways as they place the field over a major HIGHWAY! I just found the tool to BLOCK or HIDE those airfields. So I just turn them off. Hate doing that but the Developer has got to get that under control. I've even seen builds over existing airfields. Anyway, I wanted to be near home but find somewhere rural to build and not destroy roads or buildings, having beauty and a lake.. I believe I found it!

S

Shepard55

Cool i stopped at yours several times. Hope you come check out mine. I put some effort into making it seem like its supposed to be there.

P

PharohX

I went by and checked you out!! Yes, You did a phenomenal job making your airfield blend into the landscape naturally. I flew from my airfield their and it is a good mix of skills (Climb, Descent and Airspeed) to get there and back so I will surely do it more often! The Building at the East end of the airfield is CRAZY work to hop over, LOL

S

Shepard55

Hey I never have even got close to that building on the end. It's a barn in real. I fly bush planes and the like so I "hop" pretty good.. It doesn't really stick up much and I can't really tell the Peterson to move it... hahah

P

PharohX

LOL, Tell the FAA to contact the Petersons concerning an aviation safety issue.. LOL.. Really though, Did you notice that from the Approach from the east there is a BIG ASS radio tower? I approached from the controlled space of SVE and was like HOLY $#!%.... So I checked the FAA Sectional and Yeah bro, there is a (^ 4425) advisory on the chart or a NOTAM or SUMTIN... easy to go around...IF you see it first LOL

S

Shepard55

That radio Tower was there before I was born.. SVE used to be a tiny dirt road but also before I was born. When I was a kid The US Airforce set off old bombs by Honey Lake at the bombing range and you could hear the boom and see mushroom clouds.

Hey a couple of us were on general channel in Project Airports Discord when we visited you. You were there. I'm always on discord either through PA or through my own. You can get a hold of us over there.

P

PharohX

Hey Friend.. I appreciate you reaching out! I did try to use the PA Discord, but to my shock I found a bunch of insensitive or blatantly racist comments and or innuendos there. Not just of the members but after a caused was lodged to the developer there, the same dismissive attitude was received. So I almost remove the APP entirely but just decided to do my own thing. It's unfortunate but I did my best to work within the framework and administration process. Hope you don't take offense.

S

Shepard55

Wow .. i wouldn't have thought they would be like that with anyone. my discord invite... https://discord.gg/nX8kY227 for mine.

P

PharohX

Thanks, I linked in!! Yeah I thought so too... but hey 15 year military and 30 years in Government work, Ive seen it from so many directions. I place my hopes unrealistically at times forgetting the reality what just is.
