The story of Clinton County Airpark

Clinton County has always been a centerpiece of Southern IL, but this county doesn't host its own airpark or decently sized airport. This airport was founded to display what Clinton County has to offer. This county was founded by primarily German immigrants during the era of "Old Immigration" in 1824. There is almost always a dairy farm in sight when outside of town! Clinton County does a ton of things differently compared to the state. One good example is how most primary school buildings are owned by the local church and is leased to the school. Go check out Excel Bottling in Breese or Carlyle Lake, which is the largest man-made lake in the state! Fly the coast and check out the many campgrounds and beaches the lake has to offer. Fly U.S. Hwy 50 as it meanders through the county, taking you through the biggest towns in the state. While Clinton County might not look like much to some, there is a ton of history and scenery to explore. And one of the best parts is being so close to a major city (Saint Louis) while maintaining that small town feel. Enjoy your stay!
