The story of Keswick
I have flown gliders off and on for over 50 years now. I started when I was 14. I used to live in Cumbria for several years and fly gliders at Walney Airfield and from the strip at Edensoaring (Skirwith Farm) -both are in the sim, but in real life they are both closed now. I always thought a strip north of Keswick where there are some big fields would be a good spot because you can access ridges to soar in any wind direction. So EGK1 has an airfield for gliding and has a 1100m gravel strip to facilitate winch launching, with a parallel grass landing area. However, there are four other strips - a parallel airport with 850m runway for light aircraft (CURRENTLY BUILDING), a floatplane base with two bisecting 650m water runways, a microlight/LSA field with 3 grass runways - 450m being the longest with two 280m cross runways and a further private grass strip with a 520m long runway for light aircraft. Oh there's also several helicopter landing spots dotted around the build area........ I tinker a bit so sometimes things change! My other strip EGK2 will remain as my 'private airstrip'...it's just over the hill besides the most scenic 'Water' in the Lake District!

How were you able to fit four separate airports on the same plot of land? I didn't think that was allowed, but great that you were able to do it. Now if I count all the runways, including the two water runways, I get 7 runways total. But the information above says you only have 3. So which airport of the four is the data referring to? Thank you.

I did have 10 before I rebuilt! There's 8 - the grass besides the winch strip is a runway as well! Use Taxiways as runways and just use the text boxes to number! However it seems you can only spawn at one runway and the parking spots -but you can still position a running aircraft near the runway in FS2024 if you don't want to go through the starting up process. The official runway is the longest/thinnest runway at the Gliding Club - really a winch strip -everything seems to spawn to the longest runway in MSFS. I did have a 2nd parallel 'offical runway' and an unofficial parallel grass runway for more of an airport, next to the gliding club. But it would only spawn to the longest one and all navigation was directed there which would mean I couldn't use both runways, one for aircraft and one for winch launching gliders. So as this was designed for gliding the other official runway had to go! I have another spot in mind for an airport for powered aircraft but need 50,000 Aeros!

Thank you for your detailed response. I forgot you could number taxiways and use them as runways. Good idea, if you don't mind taxiing to them, since you can't spawn at them. And yes, 50,000 Aeros is a long way to go. I spent down to 318. I couldn't even afford an additional windsock! Have slowly climbed back up to 22,000 Aeros over the past 3 weeks. Most of it passive, while I was busy doing other things.

Oh I have been down to 2! I fly everyday to 5 PA airports a day to rack up the cash and do the special events if I can.....flying only racks up 2 Aeros a minute because I fly mainly GA and don't have any addons - which takes ages....and try to encourage visitors which seems to help. I like to try and keep the strips as life like as possible....

2?! Well, you have me beat. Visitors always help, and so do faster planes. I understand you wanting to keep the strips life like. Some people have done the ridiculous ... like an airstrip atop Mt. Everest. I think Mr. McCracken tossed that one out.

Hi, i see you needing aeros to expand as i do. Wasn`t sure what to expect when i spawned in, but spotted r/w 32, hope thats correct, quite impressed with your design of the airfield, your convincing me to try gliders at mine, but i am needing aeros for my 2nd airport first. i`ve just got to level 3. but nothing around worth flying to. Yes I am currently developing the 32/14 side as as a small GA airport. I am trying to make things as lifelike as possible and blend in the airstrips into the existing landscapes so doesn't just look like a giant rectangle just randomly plonked there.

Well from what i am seeing so far your doing a grand job, and also like EG2K, may i ask why your not displaying the status boards, you would earn more aeros if displayed ? SAV1

I didn't realise they did. But secondly I think they detract from the realism I'm aiming at so I would have t hide it away in a hangar somewhere............
